I would like to extend mubarik to my brothers and sisters who were elected as delegates to the Democratic National Convention yesterday. While I do disagree with any Muslim aligning themselves with any of the two main political parties in America, I have to applaud them for getting out and doing something.

Inshaa Allah I will back to blogging in a few weeks when I will be able to dedicate more time. Right now I am finishing up a few more loose ends.

Attaturk the jerk who canceled Khilafah officially on 03/03/1924 is a big time hero in Turkey. “St.” Patrick the jerk who helped the English invade Ireland has a day dedicated to him that is looked upon as being an Irish celebration.

Before I was a Muslim I was an Irish Nationalist. I used to look at “St.” Patrick’s day as a day of morning, and it is soo American to get it twisted.

My feelings have changed on 03/03. After studying Islamic History I am not sure what type of Khilafah actually existed in 1924. To me Ashoora is a bigger day to reflect and ask Allah to guide us and give us strength and preserve against fitna.

What I didn’t realize, and what some who are still attached to the issue of Khilafah don’t realize, is that the Khilafah is just a beginning and a means to an end. After the Khilafah is established there still may be oppression, and we will have to speak against it and hold the Khilafah accountable.

Throughout history there are examples of the Khilafah being less then Islamic. I am sure that when it comes back it will eventually have to be called to task once again. If the best generation of Muslims couldn’t keep the Khilafah on course, what chance do we have, but that doesn’t mean that we will not try. It just shows you the true nature of politics.

The true nature of politics is far from the ideal. Very seldom does the ideal of taking care of the people actually overcome the quest for power, and self importance.

03/03/1924 is just another day, and a long line of days of disappointment.

Subhanna Allah, how have my thoughts changed.

Did some other tedious things, went out and to get some bread and the store was closed. Well I guess it is Easter.

When I was a kid it was one of my favorite holidays, now it doesn’t make a blip on my radar.

Allot of people are complaining. I missed the record snow of Feb. I don’t see what there is to complain about, just chill and stay in if you can, and if you have to go out slow motion. This will make you apprecaite the times when the weather is nice like on Thursday. It makes you thankful to Allah, but most are just made cause it was a bad Fri.

This winter Milwaukee has had it most snow since the 1800s. So I guess this maybe the “worst” winter of my life. Al humduulilah Allah has made it bearable.

It seems the rest of the country is being hit with bad weather, may be it is the punishment of Allah.

When I started seeing the shock and awe of US war policy and the mistreatment of Iraqi POWs I knew I would never be able to support the US in any war while they employ these tactics.

I don’t know how some one can think that the invasion of Iraq was a good thing. What have we gained with the loss of life on both sides? What have we gained with the decline of the quality of life in Iraq and the fact that the quality of life may have been better under Sadaam. The financial cost now and in the future to the citizens in the US is nothing compared to what the citizens of Iraq have paid. Both sides have paid too much for nothing.

First something that I feel strongly about:

I remember when Magic Johnson first announced that he was diagnosed with HIV. For some reason in my mind that memory has merged with the exit of Del Harris when he was with the Bucks. To me Del will always be remembered as the man who destroyed the Bucks. But in reality it was probably Sen. Kohl behind the scenes. If it wasn’t for Sen. Kohl the Bucks would have long left Milwaukee, and the city should be grateful to him for keeping the team here. But it is two fold, because the Sen. bought a winner, and has turned it into a loser and he is the only constant in the loosing ways for almost 20 years. Yeah almost 20 years.

When he first brought Larry Harris on I thought he was coming to finish the job his daddy started, and in some ways he did. Larry did a good job at getting talent, bad job putting a team together. Unfortunately the NBA is not like other sports were you can just get the most talented guy and plug him in. Larry also never recovered after firing Porter. My thoughts are that one day Larry will be like Jerry West, and his firing may look like the senator’s biggest mistake.

No to balance things out I read this yesterday in Tafseer Ibn Kahir:

The Merit of stating the Object of the Action before the Doer of the Act, and the Merit of these Negations

“You…”, means, we worship You alone and none else, and rely on You alone and none else. This is the perfect form of obedience and the entire religion is implied by these two ideas. Some of the Salaf said, Al-Fatihah is the secret of the Qur’an, while these words are the secret of Al-Fatihah,

﴿إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّا! ك& #1614; نَسْتَعِينُ ﴾

(5. You we worship, and You we ask for help from.)

The first part is a declaration of innocence from Shirk (polytheism), while the second negates having any power or strength, displaying the recognition that all affairs are controlled by Allah alone. This meaning is reiterated in various instances in the Qur’an. For instance, Allah said,

﴿فَاعْبُدْهُ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَيْهِ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ﴾

(So worship Him (O Muhammad ) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do.) (11:123),

﴿قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمَـنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا﴾

(Say: “He is the Most Gracious (Allah), in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust.”) (67:29),

﴿رَّبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ لاَ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ فَات&#161! 7;&#1614 ;خِذْهُ وَكِيلاً ﴾

((He alone is) the Lord of the east and the west; La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He).

So take Him alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs)), (73:9), and,

﴿إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ﴾

(You we worship, and You we ask for help from).

We should mention that in this Ayah, the type of speech here changes from the third person to direct speech by using the Kaf in the statement Iyyaka (You). This is because after the servant praised and thanked Allah, he stands before Him, addressing Him directly;

﴿إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ﴾

(You we worship, and You we ask for help from).

The current presidential fervor favors McCain. It even appears that Hillary is going to vote for him as she continues to give him endorsements. In the mean time, Barry aka Barak, is getting beat up. This is nothing unusual, for there is a long line of toughing up presidential hopefuls. There was Jennifer Flowers, and Bush on coke. I can’t remember the junk about King George the 1st, or Ronny. So the nicking of Barak is to be expected, and McCain and the straight talk express better get ready, he was roughed up to at the beginning of all this by those in his party, and it is not over in a long shot.

The Rezko junk that the media has brought didn’t stand up. I wondered if that is the best dirt they can get on the guy. Then Farrakhan opened his mouth, and Barry aka Barak had to prove that he was one of the good ol’ boys. He did a good job selling how much he loves Palestine. They attacked Barak’s wife and called her unpatriotic, and now they have added some statements of his pastor to the mix.

Hasn’t everybody at one time thought there was something wrong with the US? Hasn’t everyone at one point expressed their dissatisfaction with the US? Hasn’t everyone at one point given some serious consideration to a conspiracy theory or urban legend? I don’t understand the logic of putting the “black” church on trial. The media will try to make the statement of the pastor of Barak into a race issue, and it has nothing to do with race… so to speak. Basically African Americans have a long history of being able to express themselves, and having the courage to express themselves. They don’t hide their feelings. They tell you what they think and where you stand. Is there really anything wrong with this?

Everyone has expressed their dissatisfaction with their! governm ent at some point, but not every one has done so in public. To say that it is unpatriotic to publicly question your government, well that is unpatriotic. Now Barak’s pastor asked if we should say god bless America, but that is only rhetoric. The rhetoric that is used as emphasis is only rhetoric, and to see it as something else is deceitful. It was only the repeating of urban legends, that everyone knows are probably not true, but to influence a point. Will we ask Barak next if he believes the plot of movie that he watched.

But Barry, will be Barry and he kind of through his pastor under the bus with Farrakhan. What he should have said about Farrakhan and what he should have said about his pastor is that they are important leaders for African Americans and he doesn’t share all of their views just like he doesn’t share all of Hillary’s views, and left it at that, no more questions. But he knew unless he buries Farrakhan he will loose certain segments and give Hillary more things to use in her endorsements for McCain. I knew that he would never get the trailer park vote with out putting his pastor under the bus. The problem is that he will never get the trailer park vote no matter how much whitening crème he uses on his views.

My take on all of this is that if this is the best they got and Hillary doesn’t steal the nomination, Barak is the next president. At this point is a toss up between him and McCain (Hillary doesn’t have a chance), but Barak’s presidency will mean more to the country then McCain’s.

Eventually if Barak doesn’t get in there will be a backlash. As the media beats up Barak I don’t think they realize the racial overtones. In some ways it just looks like they are trying to keep another black man down. It looks like they are raising issues just to raise issues, and they are.

All in all, for me it is entertaining.
