Bye Bye Bob!

January 26, 2008

Yaum as-Sabt 18th Muharram 1429

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

Yesterday was Bob Harlan’s last day as president of the Green Bay Packers. Historically I think he may be the best Packers president ever. Thanks for the good years and hard work Bob, may Allah guide you!

Moronic Media

January 18, 2008

Yaum al-Jumua 10th Muharram 1429

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

Welcome to Milwaukee where we are Packers all day, all night. I watched the morning news this morning, for the first time it wasn’t wall to wall Packers coverage. I am kind of hoping that the Packers loose on Sunday because I don’t think I can stomach two weeks of this fake Packers glory by a bunch of band wagon losers who probably don’t even know who Reggie White is. The interesting thing will be if the Packers can repeat their success next year, or are they this year’s Saints, a team that happens to play the right team on the right week for the whole season. Next year they may have a chance to win a Super Bowl and it will prove that this season was not a fluke.

On to the Election everyone is surprised that this is a tight race, but I don’t understand why. When you look at a blow by blow by the number of delegates won by each candidate in each state I don’t know why it was a surprise other then the media trying to hype up Huckabee and Obama (which is a sure sign that one of them will be the next president).

Finally, I know I won’t see any of the celebrations of Ashurra on the news here in Milwaukee, unless the Packers have some Shia fans that will mourn al-Hussian at Lambeau Field.

The Super Bowl

January 12, 2008

Yaum as-Sabt 3rd Muharram 1429

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

All right guys, this is it! My last post on the NFL for the next 6 months. Looking back I could have almost made a sub blog, it is sad that a majority of my posts are on something as insignificant as football.

I am going to work my way backwards. The Patriots over the Packers in the SuperBowl, The Patriots over The Colts AFC Championship, The Packers over The Giants NFC Championship, and you can figure out the rest of my picks from there.

As you may have noticed I am going with the Packers over the Giants now, because, I have thought and they really got it easy when Washington lost. I wasn’t expecting the Seahawks to still be in this, and it just seems ironic to have Holmgren and Hasselback back. The Seahawks are kind of like the Packers West. The last time we played the Seahawks won, and it was in snow, and the Packers haven’t really shown me that they can win the BIG one agian, but I am not sure if this is a big game since the Seahawks have been running on empty the whole season. I will be a fun game, and I plan to watch from beginning to end.

Anything can happen, and it is the will of Allah’tala, the only thing that will Surprise me is if the Patriots don’t win at the end.

We came along way from the Saints and Patriots.

5 More Years

January 8, 2008

As I said before, I think that Harlan is the real architect of the Packer’s success the last 17 years and he will be the main figure outside of Bret Farve and Reggie White when this time period of the franchise is looked upon.

Yesterday he made probably his last move as a public figure for the Packers, announcing the extension of Ted Thompson’s contact by 5 years.

Pack is back… should be fun

December 31, 2007

yaum al-ithnayn 22nd Dhu al-Hijjah 1428

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

At the beggining of the football season I thought the NFC East was weak, I thought they stayed the same and the rest of the league got better. Well I was way off, the worst team Philadelphia was 8-8, and the rest made the playoffs. And I have the Giants taking the NFC.

The Packers impressed me a little yesterday, they may have a little bit more life into them, depending on if the Giant show up that day. Dallas is imploding, and that is an extra plus.

The Dolphins almost didn’t win any this year (only one game), they are no longer the only franchise to go undefeated in the regular season, and their biggest player ever, Dan Marino, Bret Farve knocked out allot of his records. Bad year for them.

Just some thoughts. I won’t be watching the playoffs next week, but I will be watching the Packers games.

Life on the Frozen Tundra

December 30, 2007

yaum al-ahad 21st Dhu al-Hijjah 1428

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

Last week I was able to watch the first half of the Packers game and I was very surprised. They were playing in their kind of weather against their biggest rival and looked completely flat, outplayed, out coached. Not good. Reminded me of the final game last year, when we beat the Bears, the Bears stumbled around in the playoffs. Today will be a measure of what this Packers team is all about. Thanks to the emergence of Ryan Grant, and being blessed to play some teams at the right time, this 9-7 team maybe 13-3 with a first round bye. They are good enough to be in the playoffs, they may even be the best in the NFC (I have the Giants), but they will hit a brick wall at the end.

The brick wall is probably the best team I have ever seen, this years Patriots, I thought that they would win it all, but I didn’t think they would them all. They have a huge target on their back, but only the Colts will stop them to the Super Bowl, and the NFC doesn’t have anything on them in the big game. So at the beginning of the playoffs I see the Patriots over the Giants in a rematch of last night. I don’t see Dallas doing too much, cause they are going to implode, thanks T.O., you need to take lessons from Randy Moss, but you most likely figured you weren’t going to win it all this year anyway.

Interesting enough, I didn’t watch the game last night forgot that it was on. I can just see myself in India in a few years forgetting about the whole season, or maybe here after Farve retires.
