A funny thing happened on the way to the internet….

February 15, 2008

Yaum al-Jumua 8th Safar 1429

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

Last time I was in Hyderabad, there was a number of internet cafes and most were pretty nice. The one I am at now isn’t bad, but it is in the back of a medical supply store. It seems the internet has went the way of America and everyone has it at their crib. To get to this cafe I have to pay an auto driver more then the actual cost of using the internet, it is about a mile away, walking wouldn’t be bad but there isn’t enough room for traffic, no side walks, and if it rains raw sewage. Once you get to the internet you start typing and then the power goes out… zap…lol. So my blogging is done till I get back I don’t know what I am going to do with my travel blog… I am keeping a journal, maybe I will make the entries when I get back, inshaa Allah.

Absentee Ballot

January 31, 2008

Yaum al-Khamis 23rd Muharram 1429

Bismillah ar Rahmaan ar Raheem,

As salaam alaikum wa rahmaatuulahhi wa baraakaatuu,

Well, this blog is at the end of the road for the time being. Inshaa Allah, I will be leaving to India and I am not sure when I will be able to post again. I am assuming that I will be able to post soon, but I don’t know how much Hyderabad has changed since my last visit. If everyone is driving a car, and has a computer in their house, then I am going to have to make a friend with a computer. If there are Internet cafes still, then it is on. I will be blogging my experiences, inshaa Allah from another sub-blog Hitting Hyderabad.

I was thinking about casting an absentee ballot, but other then the presidential nominations I don’t know what else is on the ballot and it is too late now to take positions. Had I still been in Milwaukee I would have wrote Musa Maguire for president like I mentioned on the Muslim Matters blog… none of these guys are worth a vote, they will all kill Muslims and they wont get a beyah from me.

I have analyzed the race so far and will continue to analyze because we should be aware. That is the name of the game, awareness and dawah. We as Muslims need to get off our asses, take time to understand issues and then tell the people. Just showing up once a year or every few months to cast a vote doesn’t do anything. Voting is the very least that you can do.

Ya Allah protect me and my family on my journey, and bless the Muslims, and guide the rest… Ameen!
